Wheelchair-friendly
Our home is a detached dormer bungalow, set on 1/3 acre site. It is about 5km from Eyre Square, the centre of
Galway city. We are a few hundred metres from Lough Corrib. It is a rural setting, though close to Galway City Centre. The beach at Salthill is 8km away.
Our home is totally wheelchair accessible. There are no steps at any door ways, incluðing front, back & frenchdoors accessing the house. All internal doorways are also accessible.
We have two double bedrooms on ground floor. One with a wetroom ensuite. The main bathroom, sitting room, living & kitchen are all wheelchair accessible, & on the ground floor. The kitchen work tops etc have been lowered, to facilitate a wheelchair user. The bathroom contains a bath, which may not suit a wheelchair user. However, a bath board may overcome this issue.
Upstairs there are two more double bedrooms, one is ensuite. There is another shower room on this floor.
We have a through-floor lift to this floor, making the entire house wheelchair accessible.
Our front and back gardens can be accessed via a couple of steps, while this may not be ideal, there is ample space to use the barbecue or simply sit outsde on the level Tarmac area.
