I live on a houseboat, very nearby the city centre of Amsterdam on a very quiet spot. There is a garden on one side of the boat and a terras on the waterside. For adults and children without a mobility problem it is possible to swim in the water. It is a 5-8 minute walk to Westerpark, a big green area with a theater, a cinema, restaurants, cafe's and in the summer all kind of festivals.
