Matching Houses - testimonials
Hi!
Just to let matchinghouses members know, I'm halfway through a successful home & car swap here in Perth & another member in Ireland.
Let me explain, to overcome the problem of different seasons on either side of the hemisphere, another member & I agreed to do a "non-concurrent swap" so we both could have our summer breaks in each of our respective swap countries. To do this takes a small amount of trust by each party, some organisation, & for each home owner, to leave their home while the other swap stays.
Trust issues? It takes a bit of organising to get things going & by the time you commit, you know who you are dealing with & whether you can trust the other person.
Places to stay while your swap comes? Take a local holiday, or do the unthinkable, stay with family or friends. Our little family took the opportunity to take 3 weeks holiday in Australia in New South Wales while our swap visited my home here in Perth. Meanwhile, we did Sydney, the Blue & Snowy Mountain Highlands in NSW.
My Ireland swap (three ladies) came to Perth for 6 weeks, 3 of these weeks were spent at my home. They loved Perth, the Margaret River Wine Country, Rottnest Island, & the high level of accessibility that we had on offer in Perth & our home.
They had a great time & now we're off this summer to stay a week in London & to take up our 3 week swap in Ireland. We can't wait!
So think about a non-concurrent swap!!!
By the way - we're now doing early looking for another swap for later in the year (September - October), or December January 08-09, & beyond into 2009.

Last year we were offered a chance to go on student exchange with the
college for a term. Unfortunately I couldn't go because I didn't know
how accessible the houses were.
I have always wanted to go travelling when I leave college and this has
giving me hope to do so.
